Post Garage/Broderick Motors
South Peru Street
Plattsburgh, New York

An excerpt from the obituary for Maurice F. Broderick (1921-2003) in the June 4, 2003 issue of the (Plattsburgh) Press-Republican offered the following details:

"When he returned to Plattsburgh he operated a service station on the comer of South Peru and Elizabeth Street. He then moved around the comer and operated the Post garage, a Jeep and Hudson dealership with his partner, Bill Wattie. They later dissolved their partnership, with Bill moving the Hudson dealership to Boynton Ave. Mr. Broderick remained on South Peru Street and ran Broderick Motors as a Jeep dealership and in 1953 he began a relationship as a dealer with GMC trucks. Also at this time he operated a fleet of rental trucks and was known for his towing service and was well respected for his recovery capabilities. In the mid 1960's he relinquished his Jeep franchise, continuing with GMC until his retirement in 1995."

Reading between the lines, the South Peru and Elizabeth location was not the Willys dealership, but apparently an earlier service station whose name was not specified.  The "Post Garage", the first incarnation of the Willys dealership, was mentioned as still being on South Peru but around the corner from the first location.
