John Curtis forwarded details about Charles Edwin "Ed" Galloway (1919-2002), owner of Galloway Motors.  His funeral notice was published in the April 5, 2002 edition of the Tucson Citizen, with pertinent details below:

"Mr. Galloway and his first wife the former Betty-jean Wilson moved to Tucson ``on a lark'', as Mr. Galloway remembered, in 1948, residing in Frontier Village (Pima and Alvernon). That year, he and a partner founded Tucson Equipment Company, retailing Willys-Overland "Jeep'' products. Two years later, Mr Galloway bought his partner out and renamed his company Galloway Motors at 49 West Drachman Street. He then acquired additionally the Kaiser- Frasier automobile franchise. In the mid 1950's Galloway Motors added the American Motors product line of automobiles and soon became one of the country's highest sales volume``Rambler'' retailers.

Because the business continued to grow quickly, Galloway Motors relocated to a larger facility around the corner to 1237 N. Stone Ave., in 1958. It remained there until 1967. That year, due again to ever increasing business, Galloway Motors became one of the first automobile dealerships to relocate out to what was then considered, ``Tucson's far eastside.'' Mr. Galloway built a brand new AMC- Jeep sales and service facility at 5200 E. Speedway - today considered right in the middle of Tucson.

In 1997, Mr. Galloway sold his dealership to his stepson Stephen W. ``Steve'' Christy."

The dealership is still going strong as Steve Christy Chrysler/Jeep.  According to the "About Us" section of their website, they relocated to 7800 E 22nd St. in 2001.
